The Ohio Public Library Makerspace Directory
This site, while live, is under complete construction and still in the set up phase. Feel free to check back as I get further along in the process.
There are 59 public libraries in the state of Ohio that have a makerspace of some kind. With some libraries having additional locations, that puts the number at 86 makerspaces available to the public through Ohio’s libraries. The goal of Made in the Library is to provide a one stop directory of information on all the public library makerspaces in Ohio.
This site is compiled by Kellen Freeman, Maker Studio Supervisor at the Delaware County District Library. It is a work in progress and the information provided is accurate up to March 30, 2024, to the best of my knowledge.
The Location Database is there to list all of the public library makerspaces in the state of Ohio. Each page will list the details of that specific location from equipment listings, to address and contact information. In the event that a library system has more than one location with a makerspace, these have been designated as their own locations under a system page as they may function differently or offer different equipment to their users.
The full list of equipment offered across these spaces is found at the Equipment Descriptions page. This is where pieces of equipment that are fairly common and make several appearances will be listed out with helpful information about each type. There is an “Other” equipment category that compiles a list of one offs that are unique to the overall list that aren’t common place enough to justify their own page at this time.
Below here is a timeline updated with the most recent date of updates as this site is brought up to speed. There is also a roadmap that will show you where I’m currently at on the process of getting this site fully operational.

Recent updates:
- 6-5-25: Clark County Public Library has been added to the database.
- 4-22-25: Individual location pages are through the initial set up process.
- 3-21-25: Location list is finished listing all the public library makerspaces in Ohio.
Roadmap:
- First up is getting all of the locations input correctly and getting the baseline information added to each page. (COMPLETE 4-22-25)
- Step two is to begin sending out surveys to all the libraries in Ohio to double check and verify the information I’ve got here and to introduce to project. (IN PROGRESS)
- While awaiting information from the survey, I’ll begin to flesh out the equipment pages with more information about each type of technology.
- Eventually, I would like for this to branch out to be also a place where those working in libraries can learn more about creating a makerspace, what tools are out there, and have a way to connect with other folks that have walked the path before. Possibly a Google Group or email newsletter will be in the works to help facilitate this. But that’s a solid ways down the line.
